# Partner enablement

In short

Partner enablement is the set of training, sales content, tools, and support a vendor provides so its partners can sell, deploy, and support the vendor's products. Partners can be resellers, agencies, integrators, or referral partners.

Without enablement, partners often do not know the product well enough to sell it. Good enablement shortens the time from signing a partner to that partner's first deal and raises the quality of the deals they bring.

## What partner enablement includes

### Onboarding

A clear first 30 to 90 days: account setup, portal access, an overview of the program, and a first-deal plan.

### Training and certification

Product, technical, and sales training so partner reps can speak credibly and deliver.

### Sales and marketing content

Pitch decks, battlecards, case studies, and co-brandable assets.

### Tools and support

A partner portal, deal registration, demo environments, and a named contact for help.

---

## How to build it

* **Segment partners:** A referral partner needs less than an implementation partner, so tailor paths by partner type.
* **Map the partner journey:** List what a partner needs to know at each stage, from recruited to first deal to growth.
* **Keep content current:** Outdated decks hurt credibility, so assign owners.
* **Support deals directly:** Offer help on live opportunities, not only on courses.

---

## How to measure it

Track time to first deal, share of partners who complete training, certified partner count, pipeline per partner, and win rate. Compare enabled partners with those who skipped training to see what the program adds.

---

## Example

Say a vendor signs ten new resellers. It gives each a 60-day plan: a product course, a demo session, a co-branded deck, and a joint call on the first target account. After a quarter it sees which partners reached a first deal and adjusts the plan for those who did not.

---

## Partner enablement vs sales enablement

Sales enablement equips your own reps. Partner enablement equips outside organizations that sell for you, so it must also cover things partners lack, such as your brand story and how to earn margin.

---

## Common mistakes

* **One-size-fits-all content:** Different partner types need different material.
* **Training without selling help:** Courses alone do not close deals.
* **Ignoring partner economics:** If the partner cannot make money, it will not sell.

## Partner enablement FAQs

**What is partner enablement?**

Partner enablement is the training, content, tools, and support a vendor gives partners so they can sell, implement, and support its products. It covers onboarding, certification, sales material, and day-to-day help on deals.

**How do you measure partner enablement success?**

Common measures include time to first deal, training completion, number of certified partners, pipeline and revenue per partner, and win rate. Comparing enabled and non-enabled partners shows what the program adds.

**What is the difference between partner enablement and sales enablement?**

Sales enablement supports a company's own sales team. Partner enablement supports external organizations that sell or deliver on the company's behalf, so it also covers brand story, margin, and program rules.

**What should a partner onboarding plan include?**

It should include portal access, program rules, product and sales training, ready-to-use content, a named contact, and a plan for the first deal. Setting a 30 to 90 day timeline keeps new partners moving.
