# President's Club

Also known as: presidents club, President's Club trip

In short

President's Club is an annual recognition program that rewards the top-performing sales reps, and often their guests, with a premium trip or event. Qualification is based on results, usually quota attainment over a year.

The reward is typically non-cash, such as travel or a company event, and it sits on top of regular commission. Its job is to motivate and to recognize performance publicly.

## How President's Club works

* **Eligibility:** Often reps at or above a set share of quota, or the top percentage of a ranked list.
* **Measurement period:** Usually a fiscal year, sometimes a half-year.
* **Reward:** A trip, an experience, or an event, sometimes with a plus-one.
* **Announcement:** Typically shared at a sales kickoff or company meeting.

---

## Why companies run it

Money alone does not always motivate. A shared trip builds status and a sense of belonging. It also gives reps a visible goal that lasts beyond one quarter, and creates a network of top performers for the company to learn from.

---

## Designing a fair program

### Make the rules clear

Publish the qualification criteria at the start of the year. Reps should always know where they stand.

### Use fair targets

If quotas are unevenly set across territories, the club rewards luck. Review quota setting before the year starts.

### Consider more than one tier

Some companies add levels, so mid-year hires or support roles still have something to aim for. Say a team has a main club for top attainment and a smaller award for the best new hire. That keeps more people engaged.

---

## Common mistakes

* **Moving the goalposts:** Changing rules late kills trust.
* **Only the top few win:** If almost nobody can qualify, the program stops motivating.
* **Ignoring teamwork:** Pure individual ranking can discourage helping colleagues.
* **Tax and budget surprises:** Check cost and tax treatment of rewards with finance.

## President's Club FAQs

**What is President's Club in sales?**

President's Club is an annual incentive program that rewards top-performing sales reps with a premium trip or event. Reps usually qualify by reaching or exceeding a set share of their annual quota, and the reward adds to normal commission.

**How do you qualify for President's Club?**

Qualification rules differ by company. Most programs require reaching a set percentage of annual quota or ranking in the top portion of the sales team. Companies should publish the criteria at the start of the year.

**Is President's Club the same as a sales incentive trip?**

President's Club is one kind of sales incentive trip. It is a recurring, status-driven annual program for top performers, while other incentive trips may be one-off contests tied to a specific product or quarter.

**Do non-sales roles qualify for President's Club?**

Some companies extend President's Club to roles such as SDRs, sales engineers, and customer success managers with their own targets. Others limit it to quota-carrying account executives. The rules are set by each company.
